GCY Corps: Instilling a lifetime commitment to service
Young people inspired to play an active role in their communities!!
The Grand Canyon Youth Corps (GCYC) is a high-school based community service club; by teens, for teens. In the spirit of community, GCYC is a collaborative effort between the YMCA, Northern Arizona College Resource Center, Civic Service Institute and Grand Canyon Youth. Our mission is to emphasize the importance of community service by inspiriting youth to get interested and involved with their community. The GCYC clubs currently exist in three Flagstaff high schools: Northland Preparatory Academy, Flagstaff High School and Coconino High School. The clubs are based out of the Flagstaff Family YMCA Teen Center program. We work together with a multitude of organizations to make a positive impact in our community.
Why join?
As a member of the GCYC, you’ll gain leadership skills and exposure to career possibilities, learn more about your community, try new things, and help others. It looks great on college applications and resumes.
How much time is involved?
You’ll need to attend bimonthly meetings and complete 10 hours of service each semester.
How do I join?
If you are student at Northland Preparatory Academy, Flagstaff High School or Coconino High School and you want to participate, contact Sara Hooker.
