2009 — A Year to Remember at Grand Canyon Youth!

What a year! On March 31, the office and warehouse where GCY had been housed for over 5 years suffered a devastating fire. Before the smoke had a chance to clear, our Board President Patrick Conley had found us a temporary home, and our office was set up within 24 hours of the fire. The outpouring of support from across every sector of the community was truly heartwarming, and we had over 50 volunteers assist in our moving efforts. With a couple of trips out the door, the season must go on.

We had a total of 30 programs, which served over 500 participants on 3,148 participant days. We had 17 returning groups including 6 new groups. We awarded over $24,000 in scholarship funds. Participants came from across the country from as far away as Indonesia and Austria.
